What Happens During Your First Visit
Because your provider has already reviewed your paperwork, we can make the most of our time together. Here's how your appointment will typically flow:
Focus on Your Priorities
We'll start by spending about 10 minutes reviewing your symptoms and identifying your goals for care. What symptoms are most impacting your quality of life? What do you most want to address? This is your time to be heard.
Clarify Your Health Picture
Next, we'll take 10-15 minutes to get clarity around pertinent health history, confirm current medical conditions and medications, and make sure we have a complete understanding of your health. We won't waste time asking all those background questions you've already answered on the forms.
Discuss Your Treatment Options
We'll then have a thorough discussion of treatment options that make sense for you, including the risks, benefits, alternatives, and potential side effects. Once you decide which treatments you'd like to try, we'll send electronic prescriptions so you can usually start treatment right away.
Make a Follow-Up Plan
Before we wrap up, we'll create a clear plan for follow-up care so you know exactly what to expect going forward.
The difference our preparation makes: Because we've reviewed your paperwork in advance, we can spend our time together on what matters most—understanding your experience, exploring solutions, and creating a personalized care plan rather than collecting basic information.

Common Questions
-
We follow Menopause Society guidelines, which don't recommend routine hormone testing for starting or adjusting estrogen and progesterone therapy. We focus on relieving your symptoms rather than targeting specific hormone numbers, as research shows blood levels don't reliably correlate with how you feel. For testosterone therapy, we do check baseline levels and monitor periodically to ensure safe dosing.
-
We offer a full range of evidence-based treatments tailored to your specific stage of transition, health history, preferences, and symptoms. Treatment options may include:
Menopause hormone therapy - including bioidentical estradiol (patches, gels, sprays) and micronized progesterone
Birth control pills - for perimenopausal symptom management and contraception
Non-hormonal medications - such as antidepressants or gabapentin for hot flashes and other symptoms
Lifestyle modifications - to support symptom relief and long-term health
The right treatment depends on where you are in your transition, what symptoms you're experiencing, your health history, and what matters most to you. We'll discuss all appropriate options during your visit so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you.
For hormone therapy, we typically prescribe FDA-approved bioidentical products available through standard pharmacies, but can work with compounding pharmacies if preferred.
-
Yes, we prescribe low-dose testosterone for persistent low libido when appropriate. This requires an in-person visit, baseline lab work (testosterone level, sex hormone binding globulin, liver function, and lipids), and ongoing monitoring since testosterone is a controlled substance.
-
Most new patients can be seen within days to 1-2 weeks. Once you book, you'll receive immediate provisional confirmation.
-
We understand that life happens. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a $50 fee, though we make exceptions for unexpected situations like illness or emergencies.
-
Yes! While menopause and perimenopause care is our specialty, we also provide gynecological care for people of all ages, including well-woman exams, contraception, vaginal infections, and other routine concerns. You don't need to be experiencing menopausal symptoms to see us.
We don't provide prenatal care or pregnancy-related services.
